The three seasons

Winter (October – March): peak season

Clear skies, warm afternoons and cool nights, sometimes dipping near 8 °C in January. This is the time for boat rides on Lake Pichola, palace tours and rooftop dinners, and it's also wedding season, so book hotels early.

Summer (April – June)

Hot and dry, with May averaging around 40 °C. Hotels are cheaper; plan indoor sightseeing at midday and lakeside evenings.

Monsoon (July – September)

Most of Udaipur's ~674 mm of annual rain falls now. The Aravallis turn green and by September the lakes are brimming, making it a romantic, quieter time to visit.
